Lee Da Hae Leaves "East of Eden"
I'm really not sure how to take this news. I like Lee Da Hae a lot, she's sweet and seem friendly and nice. But quitting in the middle of a currently airing drama will sure to have it's negative effects even if she has valid reasons. It makes me sad to know that netizens are now divided, some see her as unprofessional and some just felt compassion for her. Whatever her reasons are, be it health or because of the not-so-good development of her character, I hope she thought about it well and understands effects on her career. Too bad, I'm looking forward to a Song Seung Hun - Lee Da Hae pair up in the end of the drama. =(
Lee Da Hae has left a message on the official “East of Eden” website yesterday night (22nd), expressing her wish to quit “East of Eden”. Although there were also rumours previously about her wanting to leave the drama citing health problems, they were essentially just rumours. But this time round, she was the one who made the announcement herself and this move has caused an uproar and much speculations among fans and viewers alike.
Lee Da Hae wrote on the website: “Due to stress, I often felt the tiredness and was unable to carry on with the filming. Although I have taken some injections and medicines, but they only helped to reduce the tiredness in my body. My mental stress is still there.”
“I don’t know when did this started, but after filming every scene, I would start to reproach myself for not being able to play my role well. Even me myself can’t understand the character that I’m playing, let alone the viewers. Hence, I have decided that it is better for me to leave the drama. Although I have went through alot eversince I started filming this drama, at the same time I have also learnt many things. More importantly, I have met a lot of friends through the drama and I wish to remain in contact with them after my departure,” Lee Da Hae continued.
At the moment, the production team has not released any official statement in response to her leaving but viewers are already expecting a huge impact to the plot development. As the original plot is for Lee Da Hae and Song Seung Hun to be in love at some point, her leaving will mean that there will be drastic changes to how the story develops. This may prove to be a headache as the original writer has also quit the drama citing health reasons and the new writer may have a hard time trying to piece everything again.
